My research focuses on the epidemiology and sustainable management of soilborne vascular pathogens, using fungal pathogens (Fusarium oxysporum and Verticillium dahliae) and the bacterial pathogen (Ralstonia solanacearum) as model systems. My work integrates (i) the development of advanced techniques for early detection and the analysis of pathogen biology, structure, and population dynamics, with (ii) the identification and evaluation of sustainable alternatives to conventional agrochemicals, including resistance inducers, biofungicides, bioactive compounds, and plant-derived extracts. My goal is to advance both fundamental and applied knowledge to deliver science-based disease management strategies for agriculture.
